Building Permit Exemptions

The requirements for obtaining Building Permits have changed since the amendments to the Building Regulations in 2005 and the introduction of the Building Regulations 2006. Previously, Building Permits were required for any project that exceeded the $5000 limit. Now, Building Permits are based on the scope of works instead. Schedule 8 of the Building Regulations 2006 provides a full description of building & building work that is excepted from building permit and occupancy permit requirements. For further information visit www.dms.dpc.vic.gov.au, tick Statutory Rule and type in Building Regulations 2006.
