Why do we require your personal information?

The personal information collected and maintained by Building Ethics Australia comprises your name, address, contact details and information specific to your accreditation with Building Ethics Australia.

We may also collect and update personal information necessary to set up and maintain your accreditation and Warranty Insurance eligibility, such as date of birth, bank account details, postal address and the address to base the risk, previous insurance history and other information about your building history. We also record information about the status of your accreditation and the alterations you make or wish to make on your policy.

We may also collect and maintain your sensitive information. This comprises information about your membership of professional associations or the like and any criminal convictions you may have.

The information requested allows us to assess risks and to administer your accreditation, Warranty Insurance cover and claims.

Disclosure of your personal information to third parties.

We disclose personal information to third parties who we believe are necessary to assist both us and you in providing all relevant services and products. For example, in handling claims, we may have to disclose your personal and other information to third parties such as other insurers, loss adjusters, investigators, agents and others involved in the claims handling process, or as required by law.

We limit the use and disclosure of any personal information provided by us to them to the specific purpose for which we supplied it.

Building Ethics Australia aims to ensure that your personal information is accurate, up to date and complete. Please contact us on (03) 9585 8512, 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday, if you would like to seek access to, or revise your personal information, or feel that the information we currently have on record is incorrect or incomplete, or believe that the privacy of your personal information at Building Ethics Australia has been interfered with. If this instance should occur you are entitled to raise your concerns. Your complaint will be managed and resolved through our internal Privacy Complaints Procedure.
